  • Mosimann’s private dining club in London prepares for Christmas with décor and events
  • Private dining rooms are available for non-members to book for events for between two and two hundred people

Christmas is the Mosimann’s team’s favourite time of the year, and the famous private dining club embraces the build-up, the décor, the food, and the festivities.

The décor:

Once Mosimann’s home, a 19th century converted church in London’s Belgravia, is decorated, Christmas is definitely coming.

The elaborate, twinkly, silver wonderland comes to life on Saturday, November 5 this year. Reminiscent of a scene from a C.S. Lewis novel, the decorations stretch from the entrance through the entire club with the dramatic display reaching up from the main dining room to the mezzanine, balcony bar above.

And given that just a few doors down is florist Neill Strain’s beautiful annual frontage, not to mention other local business with an eye for décor, it makes for a very cheery corner of London well worth a trip for any local residents, day-trippers or Instagrammers wanting to capture the feel of the season.

Christmas and New Year events:

Mosimann’s seven private dining rooms are available for non-members to book. The rooms range in size from between two and fifty guests seated in the private rooms, and up to two hundred for a standing reception in the main dining room and bar so there is a Christmas party option for everyone.

There are also four formal events planned this year for members - two Christmas Magic Dinners on December 9 and 10, and two Christmas Gala Dinners on December 16 and 17.

The Christmas magic dinner on December 9 will see members entertained by magician Matt Daniel Baker, who is widely regarded as one of the most entertaining magicians and mind readers in the world, having performed in more than thirty different countries and for celebrities including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.

The following night the magic will be performed by Etienne Pradier, a favourite with Mosimann’s members who has won many awards during his 25 years of performing and is part of the inner Magic Circle.

For the Gala Dinners on December 16 and 17, there will be live music to accompany the beautifully festive menu, which will start with a lobster thermidor tart with wilted spinach and a herb salad with shellfish and tarragon dressing, followed by beef consommé, soft boiled quail's egg with gold leaf and brunoised vegetables. The main will be a fillet of beef with truffled duchess potatoes, celeriac cream, French beans, and merlot jus. This will be followed by Vacherin Mont D’or with toasted fruit and nut baguette, and dessert will be the famous Mosimann’s Christmas pudding served with Champagne sabayon and cinnamon ice cream. Coffee, Christmas biscuits and mince pies will finish the dinner.

New Year's Eve will be a black-tie event with champagne on arrival and at midnight, a five-course menu (the details are just being finalised) and live music and dancing

Wreath-making:

Members with a flair for Christmas décor are also invited to a Mosimann’s partnership with the Judith Blacklock Flower School at Judith’s beautiful Knightsbridge mews studio where they will create their own luxury Christmas wreath on Tuesday 29th November.

Under Judith’s expert tutelage, guests will be guided through the techniques needed to produce the perfect and personal Christmas wreath, before heading to Mosimann’s for a delicious four-course festive lunch.

Mark Mosimann, MD of Mosimann’s said:

“Christmas is our absolute favourite time of year at Mosimann’s. We put a huge amount of effort into it from the decorations going up in early November, through the many Christmas parties to our large gala dinners.

“Our menus use the very best of British, seasonal ingredients and follow our ‘cuisine naturelle’ ethos which ensures they are light and refined with the most incredible flavours.

“We often find those who’ve joined us in our private rooms as non-members are quickly convinced to join up once they’ve tasted the dishes and experienced our wonderful wine cellar.”

Readers with enquiries on booking a private room can contact [email protected] or by calling 020 7838 6330. Those interested in joining as a member, can visit the membership pages on the club’s website, email [email protected] or call 020 7592 1628.
